Firestorm Art by Fans

There are some fantastic artists that share our passion for Firestorm.  Today I’m presenting just a few that have been sent to me or that I’ve stumbled across.

I also want to say thanks to the many Firestorm fans (or match-heads as I like to call them) that e-mail me Firestorm-related news and subject matter.  Without those folks, the content on this site would be considerably less interesting.  Keep those e-mails coming!  It might take me awhile to post some items, but I assure you it will eventually appear on FIRESTORM FAN!

Now on with the awesome Firestorm art…

Yildiray Cinar Pages from The Fury of Firestorm #1

Check out these pages by Yildiray Cinar from THE FURY OF FIRESTORM #1!  Click the image to enlarge.

Fury of Firestorm #1 pages by Yildiray Cinar

Wow!  These pages are amazing!  If you haven’t clicked the image above to enlarge, you gotta do it! Yildiray Cinar’s take on these new costumes is fantastic! Based upon the notes at the top, this is apparently a two-page spread in THE FURY OF FIRESTORM #1 on pages 15 & 16.  You can read the solicitation for the issue on the DC Comics website by clicking hereTHE FURY OF FIRESTORM is co-plotted by Ethan Van Sciver and Gail Simone, scripted by Gail Simone, and penciled & inked by Yildiray Cinar.

Notice how Jason’s powers (on the left) and Ronnie’s powers (on the right) manifest themselves.  Jason’s energy looks more atom-like, whereas Ronnie’s looks more forceful or possibly heat-related.  This ties in with some speculation about the nature of their powers.  Based upon their chest emblems, some people speculate that Jason’s powers will be more about matter transmutation, whereas Ronnie’s powers will be more about blasting and physical damage.  Alternatively, it may be more like what Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver introduced in Green Lantern — identical power, but the manifestation is a representation of the users personality.  In this case, Jason is more book-smart hence the atom symbol, and Ronnie is more of a jock hence the sheer force.  Either way, I’m getting more excited for this book!

I just can’t get over how great these pages look!  I like the cover to THE FURY OF FIRESTORM #1, but I LOVE these pages!

These pages were provided by DC Comics to Newsarama.  My thanks to Matthew Barton, Ken Deemer, and Ryan for the heads-up!

  • @FirestormFan Thanks much. Fun book, fun character, & I LOVED working with @JAMALIGLE .

Yildiray Cinar (@ycinar) responded with:

  • @gabrielhardman Yes! :)

Much earlier in the week on June 10, Gail Simone (@GailSimone) said:

  • And the big chatter has been for Batgirl, but seriously, Fury of Firestorm is huge. It is a key book in the relaunch, and is full of the kind of world-building we’ve only been seeing in the Green Lantern books, lately. It’s so, so much bigger than we can say yet. Ethan Van Sciver is co-plotter, and it’s a mix of huge concepts and very personal and heartfelt characters. I love it and DC is wild for it. Art is by Yildiray Cinar (@ycinar),who is just an explosive storyteller. He and Ethan are doing designs together. Superhero nirvana.

That’s a lot of activity going on for Firestorm! Again, be sure you’re following @firestormfan on Twitter!

Deathstorm Figurine Collection Magazine

DC Comics Blackest Night Figurine Collection Magazine #11 featuring Deathstorm is solicited in the current issue of Previews for shipping in August.  Be sure to pre-order this item from your local comic shop before the end of the month!

Deathstorm in DC Comics Blackest Night Figurine Collection Magazine #11

These 16-page collector magazines and figurines are produced by Eaglemoss Publications Ltd.  Here is the solicitation for the Blackest Night Collection:

The Blackest Night Collection expands upon the award-winning DC Comics Super Hero Collection. Aimed at fans of DC Comics and, in particular, the Green Lantern milieu, the Blackest Night Collection will focus on DC Comics’ 2009-2010 event, the best-selling Blackest Night and its follow-up Brightest Day. Each figurine will be a highly-detailed replica of the character at approximately 1/21-scale.

You may recall the same company published a similar magazine/figurine for Firestorm last year.  I was really impressed with Firestorm, so I look forward to this Deathstorm issue.

Many thanks to Frank Lee Delano (of the blogs: Martian Manhunter: Idol-Head of Diabolu, Justice League Detroit, Atom: Power of the Atom, Wonder Woman: Diana Prince, DC Bloodlines, and …nurgh…) for the heads-up on this product.  Thanks, Frank!

Given the upcoming changes to Firestorm, it’s kinda weird to think of Deathstorm as part of the “old continuity” especially considering how recently he was introduced to the Firestorm mythos.  I guess that’s just something we’ll all have to get used to.

Don’t forget to pre-order this item from your local comic shop before the end of the month!
