Favorite Covers: The Fury of Firestorm #40

Time for another favorite cover! The Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Man #40 cover art by Mike Clark and Steve Mitchell (cover dated Oct. 1985)!

This particular cover has always been a bit inspirational for me. Ronnie triumphing in school and starting the next phase of his personal life. While I didn’t graduate today, I do have my own personal reasons for posting this today. I’m concluding a major chapter in my life today and now it’s on to bigger and better things! A reason to celebrate!

Firestorm and Iron Man

They say opposites attract. Check out this example…

  • One guy has yellow torso, boots, gloves, and briefs.  The other guy has red in the exact same areas.
  • One has red leggings and sleeves.  The other has yellow in the exact same areas.
  • One has a prominent red circle on his chest.  The other has a prominent yellow circle on his chest.

Coincidence? Maybe so… maybe no. Either way, the team-up between Firestorm and Iron Man was destined!

Trinity War Part 2 & 3: Firestorm and Kryptonite

“Trinity War” Part 3 in Justice League Dark #22 hits comic book stores today! Share your thoughts on the issue in the comments! If you weren’t paying attention last week, you missed this bombshell…

Firestorm was asked the following question in Justice League of America #6, “Can you make Kryptonite?”

Firestorm asked about Kryptonite in Justice League of America #6

Wow! That suggests major implications for the Man of Steel. During the “Trinity War” panel at the San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, the panelists were asked if Firestorm would be making an appearance.  Jeff Lemire responded by saying, “Yeah, Firestorm has a pretty big role in Trinity War, because he can make Kryptonite. He’ll be around.” I guess that answers Amanda Waller’s question! This also helps explain the Firestorm Tarot card labeled, “The Prison” from Part 1 of the “Trinity War”.

For old time Match-heads, we already knew the answer to Amanda Waller’s question…

Deathstorm Coming to the New 52?

According to Bleeding Cool, Deathstorm might be coming to DC’s New 52!

Deathstorm from Brightest Day by Scott Clark and Dave Beaty

The Crime Syndicate of America will be major players in the upcoming Forever Evil mini-series. Bleeding Cool suggests that Deathstorm will appear to counter-balance Firestorm. This is big news as Deathstorm hasn’t been seen since the conclusion of Brightest Day.

Die-hard Match-heads are probably wondering how to resolve Deathstorm’s creation now that Firestorm wasn’t involved with Blackest Night and Brightest Day. Inquiring minds want to know! Anyone feel like speculating how to resolve this within New 52 continuity?

My thanks to Match-head Brandon Leonard for the heads-up on this article!

Trinity War – Part 1 & 2

Did you pick up the first part of the “Trinity War” last week, Justice League #22? If so, what did you think? For you match-heads that haven’t picked it, Firestorm does appear and a character from his corner of the DC Universe plays an important role! Not giving away spoilers here, but just suggesting you pick up the issue.

There was one panel that perplexed me. I’ve shared the panel below, but I’m not sure I grasp why Firestorm is labeled as “The Prison”.  Click the image below to enlarge. Thoughts?
