Plastique (Firestorm foe) to join the cast of CW’s The Flash

On Tuesday of this week, word spread that Plastique will appear on CW’s The Flash! Another Firestorm character appears on The Flash?!?! Amazing! Positively Nuclear!!

TV Line reports

Ausiello: I’ve got some explosive scoop on this one (you’ll see what I did there in a minute): Sgt. Bette Sans Souci – AKA Plastique – will make her way to The Flash this season. The series’ incarnation of the metahuman is a fetching young redhead who was a bomb specialist with the Army before she was injured by an IED in Iraq. Since being exposed to the Central City explosion, she can turn any object into a bomb with just a touch of her hand – not a bad comrade for The Flash to have on his team, eh?

I don’t believe this has been validated yet by anyone working on The Flash TV show, but we haven’t heard anything to contradict it either. As we learn more, we’ll be sure to keep you updated! Below is Plastique’s Who’s Who entry from the 1980s. Click to enlarge!

My thanks to the following folks for sharing the news with me: Edward Crosby, Dave CoxMichael A. Burstein, Clark Edwards, LloydCraigWasHere, and anyone else I probably forgot!

well,, looks like I’ll be seeing a development check….not, ,DC has the worse track record for paying …..

  2. Luke says:

Oddly, Plastique also popped up on Smallville, first on her own and later as part of the Suicide Squad.

Firestorm as the backup to the Flash strikes again!

And Pat, one odd thing I have seen lately (in lieu of DC’s new royalties announcement a few weeks back) is that, while DC is evidently less consistent about paying creator royalties for derivative works, according to numerous creators, they have a fantastic Accounting department when it comes to keeping track of reprints and international sales. I think it was Mark Waid who said (paraphrasing) “If it sold three copies in a reprint in Bulgaria, you’d get a check.”

Hopefully she is scantily clad…which based on the CW’s history, I think we can expect that she will be.

  4. Martin Gray says:

Hurrah for Bette Le Pew, who knows, she may bring Captain Atom along.

I do, though, dislike the show falling back on a Smallville-style meteor freak analog. Can’t we just be in a universe in which people can develop super powers?

    Awesome!

  6. […] News broke last week that Kelly Frye has been cast to play Plastique on the upcoming CW show, The Flash. The casting announcement came just days after the news that Plastique would appear in the series. […]
