Forever Evil by Geoff Johns and David Finch

Geoff Johns gave an interview recently on the upcoming mini-series, Forever Evil. During the interview, Geoff confirmed the antagonists of the piece will be the Crime Syndicate of America from Earth-3. Also confirmed was Deathstorm as a member of that team. Geoff described Deathstorm in the following way, “Deathstorm is a scientist who’s been merged with the dead body of his lab assistant. It’s given him a cold demeanor and a clammy touch. He’s essentially a mad Nazi scientist with Atomic Power at his hand.”

There is a lot more information to read in Geoff’s full interview with IGN!

Wow! Pretty interesting and creepy stuff! I wonder if the Earth 3 scientist was Martin Stein, Danton (a.k.a. Dalton) Black, or someone else entirely. Since Deathstorm is so radically different, I’m hopeful his personality will be different from the previous incarnation. Only time will tell if Deathstorm is still used as commentary on 1990s villains.

My thanks to Brandon Leonard, Michael A. Burstein, and Hawky for sending this information my way! Thanks!

I don’t think Deathstorm as a ’90s commentary would do any good now, seeing as the New 52 redesigns pretty much look like Image characters now anyway…

  2. Oscar Olalde says:

Please let it be Dr. Stein! let him school this Earth-prime snot nosed kids, and while are at it, re-arrange the molecules of those hideous 90’s Liefeld-like costumes the E3 Teen Titans are wearing ~ it’s for the greater good… er, evil, evil that is.

  3. Jeff R. says:

Could also be Joseph Martin or Albert Michaels…I’m getting a bit of an Atomic Skull vibe from that writeup as well.

  4. Luke says:

I dig it. The Crime Syndicate never really had a Firestorm analogue, so I can get behind that.

My question is where is Blood Hawk or Raptor or whomever as the Hawkman analogue? Eh? Eh?

  5. Shag says:

According to Bleeding Cool, the scientist will be Professor Martin Stein!

Thanks to Jason Pope for the heads-up!

  6. I am somewhat relieved to learn that this won’t be the *same* Deathstorm as from Blackest Night/Brightest Day (not sure if New52 leaves that possible, so much as it seems like they could do that if they wanted to, and I *don’t* want them to).

  7. Hawky says:

Totally excited about seeing this play out, cool that there is a Firestorm analogue. I also say yes to bringing back Blood Eagle.

  8. Little Russell Burbage says:

I just noticed that that’s Batman behind Luthor’s shoulder!?!
    Of course it is.
    Batman can’t ever be defeated.
    &*(^&%^*!@$)&*&%^ stupid DC.
