This week Shag and Rob take a look two very special, very fun team-ups featuring Aquaman and Firestorm! First up is Aquaman and Batman in “The Sleepwalker From The Sea” by Bob Haney and Neal Adams (THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #82, March 1969), followed by Firestorm and Superman in “The Chaos Network” by Gerry Conway, Rich Buckler & Bob Smith (DC COMICS PRESENTS #45, May 1982). Also, don’t miss our special announcement about the future of the FIRE & WATER PODCAST!

Match-head Nico Lizarraga has sent us another fantastic Fred Hembeck Firestorm sketch! This time it’s the Elemental Firestorm!
I never grow tired of Hembeck! I adored his work in Marvel Age and the DC Comics strips on the “Daily Planet” pages! Joy!
Click here for some other fun Fred Hembeck Firestorm art! Also, Mr. Hembeck is available for commission work (he even does sketch cards starting at $10 a piece)! Click here for details!

Firestorm has turned up in one of the more bizarre toy mash-ups! Thomas & Friends (a.k.a. Thomas the Train, or Thomas the Tank Engine) has teamed up with Fisher Price’s DC Super Friends line of toys to produce superhero trains! Firestorm is just one of these trains in their “Minis” line.
Below you’ll find Flynn the Fire Engine re-imagined as Firestorm! Click the images to enlarge!
Here is the packaging (front and back). Notice all the other super heroes and villains! Click the images to enlarge!
Finally, since these are “Minis”, I thought I would provide a sense of scale. Notice this train is barely an inch high in comparison to the classic Super Powers Firestorm action figure.
I found this set of trains at Wal-Mart for about $15. Happy hunting, Match-heads!
My thanks to Jeremy Hobbs for the heads-up!

We are beyond excited to have Robbie back on The Flash. You can’t keep a good Firestorm down. Only this time, he’s back with a twist, a deadly Earth-Two version of our beloved Ronnie in the form of Deathstorm.
I’m not sure how much similarity we’ll see between the TV version of Deathstorm and the two comic versions we’ve met previously. Personally, I’m hoping if there are any similarities he’s more like the second comic incarnation of Deathstorm (from the Crime Syndicate). I’ve previously outlined my concerns about the first Deathstorm incarnation.
Also, according to the EW article, on Earth-Two Ronnie and Caitlin are still a couple! If you’ve been watching previews for The Flash, then you know the Earth-Two version of Ronnie’s former wife, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), is actually Killer Frost! Below is a pic of Robbie Amell in his Deathstorm costume taken on the set of The Flash.
If you’ve missed recent previews, check out Danielle Panabaker as Killer Frost below!
DC RPG: THE HERO POINTS PODCAST, Episode 03 – Introductory Adventure Modules

This time around Shag and Siskoid chat about favorite introductory adventure modules! We recap and discuss Mayfair Games “Project Prometheus” and “The Doomsday Program”. Finally, we wrap up the show with your Listener Feedback!
A couple weeks ago, the Legends of Tomorrow folks released several character-centric digital posters to help build some buzz! Check out these Firestorm-related posters shared with TV Line.
It’s nice ringing in the New Year knowing that 2016 will feature Firestorm as a regular on a TV series, and new comic stories by Gerry Conway! It might just be THE year of Firestorm!
First up is Franz Drameh as Firestorm (and Jefferson “Jax” Jackson)!
Next up is Victor Garber as Professor Martin Stein (part of Firestorm)!
My thanks to all the Match-heads who sent me links to this information (and there were a bunch of you)! Y’all are the best!

In a recent interview with Rama’s Screen, actor Adam Beach shared some details about the character of Slipknot in the upcoming Suicide Squad film. Click here to read all the details. For just a snippet, check out Adam’s quote below:
When you researched the villains in the DC comics, everybody’s been through the assassin’s drill of training to kill. My skill is the ropes. Give me a rope and I can fight with it, I can tie you up. They were teaching me a move where if you try to throw a punch, I can use a rope to grab that punch, put the rope around your neck and just drop my weight and it snaps your neck. There’s a lot of martial art skills you can use with the rope and it was pretty cool, man!
In case you weren’t aware, Slipknot is a Firestorm villain! More of Firestorm’s rogue gallery coming to live action!!
My thanks to the numerous Match-heads who sent me links to this information! Much appreciated!
Can’t wait to see the Larcenous Lariat on the big screen!
The 151st episode of THE FIRE AND WATER PODCAST is now available for your listening pleasure! THE FIRE AND WATER PODCAST is the official podcast of FIRESTORM FAN and THE AQUAMAN SHRINE.
This week Shag and Rob pay tribute to a friend of the show who passed away just a couple weeks ago, Shawn Engel. From a recording produced in 2014, you’ll hear Rob and Shawn discuss a fun team-up story featuring both the Kyle Rayner Green Lantern and Aquaman. Then from a recording just a couple months ago, you’ll hear Shag and Shawn discuss their mutual fondness for Kyle Rayner. Shawn Engel was a great guy. He will be missed.
