The Flash S01E10 Post-Game Report – Revenge of the Rogues

Not going to spend a lot of time recapping the story. You either saw it, or can find a zillion recaps on the web. We’re going to briefly concern ourselves with the Firestorm references in the show!

Following a hunch from Barry Allen, Caitlin Snow does a web search for the acronym of “F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M.” Click here to view this scene! Now we know it stands for — Fusion, Ignition, Research Experiment and Science of Transmutation Originating RNA and Molecular Structures! Wow! Someone on The Flash writing staff worked REALLY hard on this acronym. Hopefully they didn’t get paid by the hour. LOL!

Next up, Caitlin did some research on Professor Martin Stein. He’s been missing for quite some time.

Finally, Caitlin arranges a meeting with Hudson University student Jason Rusch. Jason explained what happened to the F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. project, possibly why Professor Martin Stein disappeared, and left us with further questions.

I’m pressed for time, so that’s all for now! What did y’all think of the episode?

Didn’t Dick Grayson attend Hudson University?

I may be wrong, but the internet consensus seems to be that the acronym is lame. I thought it was really cool, myself. Haters gonna hate, I suppose.

I thought it was “Firestorm Is Really, Extremely, Super Totally Outstanding and Radical, Man”….

I’ve read over 800 pages of proof regarding that…

  4. Yep, Dick Grayson did indeed attend Hudson U back in the 70s.

The Firestorm stuff was intriguing. Nice to see a version of Jason Rusch.

Lots of Easter eggs. McSnurtle the turtle was the secret identity of the Golden Age Flash spoof “The Terrific Whatzit”, published by DC.

Great episode. This show is fully embracing it’s super-heroy elememts. I love it.

  5. The acronym was VERY forced, in my opinion. But I’m glad for it for one very specific reason.

It all-but guarantees that transmutation will remain, as it always has been (parts of the Elemental era notwithstanding) one of Firestorm’s powers.

Because, IMHO, without the ability to transmute objects, it just won’t be Firestorm to me. The can change the costume. The identity(ies). Practically anything else they want to. But if they want to call him Firestorm, he should be able to change objects into other objects.

  6. Oh, I thought they did a remarkable job of casting Jason Rusch. He really looks right for the part.

When they revealed the acronym, I groaned a groan the likes of which I haven’t groaned since the first appearance of “Fury” in the last comic series when he used the word “sweetcheeks”. It’s very forced, I’m just going to pretend his name is Firestorm because it sounds good.

I can’t wait to see the acronym they come up with for Martian Manhunter if he ever shows up. Maybe he’ll be the “Mars-based Alien Ready To Interact Among Normal Men And Now Honing Unusual Techniques, Eradicating Rogues.

What about fusion, ignition, research and experimentation on scientific transmutation of original RNA molecularisation.
