  1. Great issue, probably the best of the series! I loved seeing all of the Firestorm rogues coming out to take their shot at Ronnie and Jason (and a nice “Sinister Six” mention, too).

Dan Jurgens really impressed me with how weighty this book felt. Despite it being just one big action slugfest, it felt really long. By the time I finished reading it, I thought it had to be more like 26 pages than just twenty. And Jurgens didn’t even crowd the pages with tons of unnecessary panels; I don’t know how he constructed this issue to feel as deep as it felt, but it worked out well.

My one grievance with the issue–and it’s not a big one–is that Jason felt too talky somehow. His constant “Get your mom out of here!” was good to keep Ronnie focused, but it felt like he was saying it too much, and it served to remind us that Ronnie wasn’t getting her free and was too distracted. I think this issue could have used less dialogue from the boys and just showed them in silent, desperate mode to get to safety.

Other than that, this issue terrific. Another sad reminder that Jurgens needed more promotion from DC to help this book get back some of its lapsed audience.

Not too bad. Good blast from the past with those classic villains, though I dislike the Killer Frost redesign; she looks like a Livewire knockoff. It’s a shame there’s only one issue left…

Good, wish we got backstories for the rogues’ gallery, but I understand why not. Glad to see them go out in a blaze of glory.

Hyena = male in New 52?
