Below you’ll find an art piece created by the dastardly creative Luke Daab. It captures the essence of how I feel right now, it honors the character, and it’s drawn beautifully. Great job, Luke!

    HENCHMEN!?! NO WAY, MAN!

    SUPPORTING CAST? NOT EVEN!

Most of us have our own books(blogs), so clearly, we’re special guest-stars crossing over with The Fan & The Shrine.

The solicits are up now for the last issue of Firestorm (as well as Savage Hawkman).

What a long, strange trip it has been. Onward and upwards to the various Justice Leagues, I say.

A sad but good show guy’s. Sad due to the cancellation of Firestorm, good because… It’s the FW Podcast (nuff said).

Robb I see your point about not wanting Aquamn in the JL film, however, I’m disappointed at your lack of optimism for the project. Who know’s, WB may wise up and get Geoff John’s to write a draft… Wishfull thinking I know.

Though it is clear that WB really need to get their asses in order in regards to their Super Hero properties… The responsibility has fallen on Superman’s shoulders, if Man of Steel does well, then WB will proceed with it’s plan for a JL movie… Probeblyget David Goyer to write that too… There’s a scary thought…

    Shag and rob!,

-I enjoyed listening to the podcast this afternoon guys. Shag, I hadn’t heard about the cancellation, so I was very bummed, both for you and for Firestorm.
-You gave me grief about not reading Firestorm, (just cause I didn’t mention it in my letter), but I am reading it now. Started picking it up when Jurgens took over and am enjoying the run. Plus, I have the entire volume 2 as well. So while he’s not in my top 5 listing of favorite superheroes, and I didn’t name my son after him (Aquaman is still #1), I am still very familiar with and do enjoy Firestorm a lot. :-)
-Love the Luke Daab pic above. Is there nothing he can’t turn to gold?
-I enjoyed the massive listener feedback section too. And Frank’s drunk ramblings had me laughing out loud.
-Enjoy Gallifrey One! I know rob! doesn’t understand, but I am a huge Who fan, both old and new, and as such, am jealous that you get to go. I’ll have to live vicariously though you and the podcast to find out about it. lol
-Until Frank can summarize his thoughts in less than 5 bullet points, and Lil Russell Burbage gets a permanent hometown, make mine Fire and Water!
    Take care guys.

I listened to the last two podcasts back-to-back, so I’ll just feedback everything at once.

Hordak? You mean the guy who owned Skeletor, He-Man, and that Jem wanna-be She-Ra simultaneously? All after absolutely dominating the Snake Men? THAT Hordak? Yeah. I dig that guy. He’s pretty rad. Haters.

Penguin is absolute greatness, too. One day, you guys will realize how wrong you’ve been.

The traitor reveal completely caught me off guard. I was so sure it was a ploy by Amanda Waller to pit the JLA and JL against each other (which would subsequently lead to her ditching the JLA in favor of a Suicide Squad), but I was pleasantly fooled. That said, looking back, it was pretty obvious. I mean this seemingly random Atlantean shows up out of nowhere and essentially serves no purpose whatsoever? OF COURSE he was going to be the guy that stirred it all up. I must agree with Shag(g) that this creates a rather interesting dynamic in which Orm, Vulko, Arthur, and the JL all feel completely justified and righteous in their actions. So many seeds were planted in this issue, and I really hope they are all explored as we go forward.

On one hand, it’s a bummer that Hawkman’s book is being cancelled. On the other hand, his book was awful. So it goes…

My condolences to Firestorm. At least he gets a promotion to dry his ever-evaporating tears with.

Also, I loved the banter between Batman and Arthur. I thought it developed their testy relationship quite well, and showed us a new dynamic, one that was the polar opposite of the one between Bruce and Hal. As for why Arthur choked Batman for so long, I think there are a couple reasons for this. 1) Batman felt at least a little guilty and/or apprehensive about how quickly the JL tugged on Arthur’s leash during his negotiations with Orm and 2) Batman wanted to wait and see what Arthur was going to do once he had Bats in a seemingly precarious position (Bats had a plan to get free, but he needed to know if he could trust Arthur).

So, finally got through the podcast ~ honestly did postponed it out of sadness for the cancellation, things like that happen all the time in any area of entertainment but this time it hit on an otherwise happy place I relax to.

Even if it’s been telegraphed since Gail Simone left, and not because of her being who she is (loathe the “if x ain’t on it, I’m dropping the book” fanboy mentality too), but by the way DC editorial changed teams without letting the book grow a long momentum from their ideas.

At the end of the day it’s always a business decision all right, but then again, had The Walking Dead been a cash-making priority, there would a great show/comic missing right now, same goes (IMO) with Firestorm -and- Hawkman (the later to a lesser extent).

But you can put a good hero down, and a 2-in-1? no way Firestorm will rise again, bet I’ll be there.

On a much happier note, the little of me getting a shout-out WITHIN a shout-out?, and from real-life’s Diabolu Frank of all people? oh yeah: I’VE ARRIVED – and gifts didn’t stop there! I got a half of my professional drag name – “Oh-lala”, priceless.

Also, Rob dissing the latest excuse for JL movie effort like a boss, and for not being a Marvel-zombie, he was on point with all his comments about it: “Like Avengers but faster”, “right now the JL movie is…. not good” that pause! obviously it was there because he thinks about the children, but gave us all a nice blank for our curse word of choice.

Can’t wait for the next podcast, Firestorm got cancelled, long live Firestorm.
