FURY OF FIRESTORM #18 and JUSTICE LEAGUE #18 Solicitations

Last Friday DC Comics released the solicitation for The Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Man #18 shipping in March 2013! I gotta tell ya, I was really excited by the solicitation. I had sort of convinced myself the solicitation for issue #18 would contain the dreaded words, “FINAL ISSUE”. So when the solicitation was released, I was ecstatic! Not only is the series continuing beyond issue #18, this issue features the return of a classic Firestorm rogue — Multiplex! As you  may recall, Multiplex recently appeared in a back-up story in Justice League #13. I’m looking forward to finding out more about this new incarnation of The Duplicate Villain! Check out the excellent cover below for The Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Men #18 penciled by Dan Jurgens and inked by Ray McCarthy! I really dig the use of Multiplex’s chest emblem to frame the cover; conveys a sense of cross-hairs too!

Here is the solicitation:

• Introducing the all-new Multiplex!
• Now that Ronnie and Jason can become one as Firestorm, can they defeat a villain who can create an army of himself?

In addition to Fury of Firestorm #18, our favorite Nuclear Man appears on another cover in March — Justice League #18! Check out the bottom left-hand corner of the cover below by Ivan Reis, Joe Prado, and Rod Reis (or as my buddy Aqua-rob from The Aquaman Shrine calls them, “The Boys”). If I understand correctly, this cover is suggesting that some of these folks will make up the reorganized Justice League team. Seems likely that Element Woman will make the cut based upon preview art and her history with Geoff Johns. Let’s hope Firestorm makes the team too!

My thanks to Match-heads Jason Pope, Sean Koury, Keith G. Baker, and Oscar Olalde for the heads-up about these solicitations! Thanks guys!

I’ve been worried that it will be cancelled too. I hope DC knows that they just found a good team on the book and to stick it out a little while to get people to trickle in from other books.
