I stumbled across a couple gorgeous original-art splash-pages by Rafael Kayanan from Firestorm volume II. The images were so awesome, I simply had to share! They come from the Comic Art Fans page of R Shur gin.

The early years of the second run for Flamehead are what I consider to be the golden area. Just beautiful artwork.
It takes me back to being about 8 or 9 years old when these items were coming out and I can remember even then appreciating the way the figures were drawn.
I’m slightly ashamed to say that I’m not overly familiar with the work of Rafael Kayanan but I think I’ll look him now since he obviously was responsible for fuelling so much of my imagination growing up. =)
I found a couple of splash pages at my parents house. It’s the #1 June edition pages 10 and 16. I’ll have to scan them. It has the copyright wording on the back from 1982.
