Firestorm Sketch by FUTURES END Artist, Patrick Zircher

Check out this cool Firestorm sketch by The New 52: Futures End artist, Patrick Zircher! He’s currently slated to draw issues #1 & #6 of the upcoming weekly series. Last Friday on Twitter Patrick asked for suggestions of a DC character to do as a warm-up sketch. Thanks to Tom Brennan, fellow match-head Doug Zawisza, and myself, we swung the vote to the Nuclear Man!

Guess What Came Out Yesterday?!?!

The Eaglemoss Firestorm chess piece shipped to U.S. comic shops yesterday! This is part of the DC Superhero Chess Figure Collector Magazine, specifically issue #53 Firestorm White Pawn. Below is an image of the chess piece from the Eaglemoss website (click the image to enlarge).

This is the first figure/toy/merchandise/whatever to feature Firestorm’s current costume! We’re talking about the New 52 post-Fury of Firestorm #0 costume for Ronnie & Jason combined. Well, it’s the current costume for a few more weeks until The New 52 – Futures End ships and we start seeing Firestorm’s “5 Years Later” costume. I know… I’m being nit-picky. Regardless, the chess piece looks great!

Eaglemoss DC Superhero Chess Figure Collector Magazine #53 – Firestorm White Pawn

This comes packaged with a 16-page magazine featuring DC artwork and chess tips! I’m getting mine from my LCS, Mail Me My Comics.com (locally known as Cosmic Cat Comics). If your comic shop didn’t order this super-cool piece, ask if they can special order it for you.  Below is the original solicitation:

Supergirl #12 featuring Firestorm! Sort of…

Love this panel by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti from Supergirl #12 (cover dated January 2007)! In this issue, Supergirl decides to blow off steam by going clubbing. She happens to pick a club where people dress as heroes and villains, so she’s effectively incognito among a bunch of cosplayers. Click the image to enlarge.

Supergirl #12 drawn by Amanda Conner & Jimmy Palmiotti - Firestorm, Poison Ivy, and Aquaman too!

In the background notice fellow clubbers dressed as Firestorm, Poison Ivy, and Aquaman. There is a silhouette that vaguely resembles Captain America. And no, that’s not Howie Mandel’s inflated surgical glove on a stick… that’s Plastic Man! To see the entire panel (including Plastic Man, Mary Marvel, and where exactly Supergirl’s leg wandered), visit We Are Arcade. My favorite is the Nuclear Man holding Poison Ivy’s hair as she pukes! Ha! We’ve all been there at some point in our lives.

This image was sent to me ages ago by a fellow Match-head.  Unfortunately, I’ve lost the information linking this pic to the kind soul who sent it. Sorry for that.
