This news is over a month old, but somehow I failed to post it here on FIRESTORM FAN. I posted the mess out of it on social media, but dropped the ball on the main site. Sorry folks!

BARRY HAS FUN WITH HIS NEW POWERS BUT A SETBACK MAKES HIM QUESTION HIS ABILITY TO BE A HERO — Barry (Grant Gustin) escorts Iris (Candice Patton) to a university gathering honoring scientist Simon Stagg (guest star William Sadler). When six gunmen storm the event, Barry changes into The Flash and tries to stop them. While he does save a man’s life, he passes out before he can capture the robbers, which frustrates him. As Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) scramble to find out what’s wrong with Barry, Joe (Jesse Martin) comes down hard on Barry for taking the law into his own hands and risking his life. Barry realizes that it wasn’t six gunmen but a metahuman named Danton Black (guest star Michael Christopher Smith), who can make multiples of himself. Meanwhile, Iris becomes even more intrigued by the “red streak.” David Nutter directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg & Geoff Johns (101). Original airdate 10/14/2014.

How cool is that?!?! Nice to see they are going with the classic spelling of his name, “Danton” rather than “Dalton”. For more on Michael Smith, click here! All these Firestorm characters appearing on The Flash: Caitlin Snow (Killer Frost), Ronnie Raymond, Plastique, Professor Martin Stein (eventually they’ve said), and now Multiplex! Can’t wait for Bazooka Joan and Zuggernaut!

If you’re unfamiliar with Multiplex, here is some info on the comic character to catch you up. Important facts: Multiplex has the power to create super-strong duplicates of himself; he was the first supervillain Firestorm ever fought; his origin is directly tied to Professor Stein and the creation of Firestorm; and he and Killer Frost are Firestorm’s primary arch-enemies. Below I’ve included two versions of his costume (original and contemporary), as well as his Who’s Who entry circa 1986. I doubt he’ll be wearing a costume on the show, but it’s still cool to see how he appears in the comics. Check it out!

Firestorm (and CW’s The Flash)! Fan the flame!

The news about Stein was revealed earlier today by Executive Producer Greg Berlanti during the show’s panel at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. Series stars and producers were on-hand to promote the show. Several news sites are reporting Stein’s addition to the show, but each site seems to have their own bits of information. I’ve included several below.

A few things to note in the reports… They refer to Firestorm, not just Ronnie Raymond and Professor Stein. Just in case anyone was doubting, that sounds like confirmation that Firestorm is in the series (not just Ronnie & Professor Stein)! Also, the reports call Stein, “Firestorm’s other half”, indicating the classic configuration!

As for Robbie Amell coming on board as Ronnie Raymond — one half of DC Comics character Firestorm — reporters were quick to wonder whether Firestorm’s other half, Martin Stein, will also be making an appearance. Berlanti revealed that Stein was initially in the pilot, but was eventually written out. That said, we will meet Stein as Amell’s character evolves.

As previously announced, The Tomorrow People alum Robbie Amell has been cast as one half of Firestorm, and Berlanti announced that the other half, Martin Stein, will later be introduced. Also, the producers are aiming high up on the DC roster. “Between [Arrow and Flash], we’ll have half the Justice League on our two shows this year,” Berlanti says.

Hollywood Reporter states:

Berlanti revealed that there is a good chance viewers will meet Dr. Martin Stein, the other half of Firestorm, revealing that in an early draft, Stein was “in a version of the pilot.”

Entertainment Weekly reports:

And as previously announced, Robbie Amell (The Tomorrow People) will show up as one-half of Firestorm in episode three, and that the other half of Firestorm—Dr. Martin Stein—will come along as well. “I think as we evolve Firestorm, you’ll definitely meet Stein,” Berlanti said. “We actually had him in a version of the pilot at one point on the train with Barry when he was coming back from Starling.”

So excited! Professor Stein is one of my favorite characters in the Firestorm mythos!

The Tomorrow People alum, who is the real life cousin of Arrow star Stephen Amell, will play Ronnie Raymond, better known in the DC Comics universe as half of Firestorm. On The Flash, Ronnie is a maintenance worker at S.T.A.R. Labs and Dr. Caitlin Snow’s (Danielle Panabaker) fiancé, whose fate is more complicated than first imagined. Ronnie plays an integreal part in the particle accelerator accident that transforms Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) into The Flash.

“Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg and myself designed the pilot and series to include Ronnie (aka Firestorm) — and to actually have someone with Robbie’s talent playing the role is beyond exciting,” executive producer Greg Berlanti said in a statement. “We can’t wait for viewers and fans of the character to check it out.”

Amell, who will first appear in the third episode, added: “I’m so excited to join forces with Greg Berlanti and The CW again on The Flash. Being brought into the DC Universe is a dream, I can’t wait to get started!”

Lots to discuss in the upcoming months, but just give yourself a few moments for this to sink in! We’re getting a live action Ronnie Raymond. Let’s cross our fingers for Firestorm as well!!

Congratulations to Robbie Amell on landing this role. We’re looking forward to his interpretation of the character.  Let’s be sure we give him a Firestorm family welcome!
