With the official news out of the way, let’s discuss certain aspects of this…

• While I’m thrilled Firestorm is returning to comics, I do feel a bit cheated. Back in July 2015, DC announced a new Firestorm six issue limited series written by Gerry Conway. So instead of Firestorm headlining his own limited series, he’s sharing with three other features. It’s an 80-page comic with four stories. Doing the math suggests each feature could get 20 pages to themselves. That’s equivalent of a stand alone comic, so at least we’ll get a full issue’s worth of Firestorm.
• Some folks have expressed concerns over the price tag of $7.99. Again, doing the math, that’s only $2 per feature. That’s a pretty good savings compared to stand alone comics (typically $3.99 nowadays). However, I’m not sure $7.99 is sustainable on a monthly basis.
• The big question is how many issues will feature Firestorm. Since we were originally promised a six issue limited series, will Firestorm be featured in the first six issues of the Legends of Tomorrow comic? Or will they shorten his story so it takes up less issues?
• The comic is called Legends of Tomorrow, clearly trying to capitalize on the TV series of the same name. However, Firestorm is the only character to appear in both the TV series and the comic. Will other Legends TV characters appear in the comic? If so, how will that impact each feature’s run? Each of these features was originally promised a six issue mini-series. Who will get six issues of Legends to tell their story, and who will have less time?

First and foremost, great news that Firestorm is back in comics and being written by Gerry Conway! Can’t wait!

Second, we have questions. I sure hope DC provides some answers soon.

SUPERMAN/WONDER WOMAN #21

The epic “Truth” arc hits close to the heart as dark secrets come to light, forcing Superman and Wonder Woman to question whether their relationship can work in this new world of identities revealed and questionable actions.

According to MTV News, the figure will stand six inches tall, and come with multiple points of articulation and accessories. The figure was designed by Ivan Reis and sculpted by Paul Harding. It’s scheduled to be in stores May 2016, with a suggested price of $25. Can’t wait for this new figure!

Well, feast your eyes on this Match-heads! Here is the 2016 Firestorm promotional artwork!

The artwork first appeared on Crave Online, and I wondered if this was old stock-art or was specifically for the new mini-series. Dan DiDio himself was kind enough to confirm for me via Twitter this is new promotional artwork for the upcoming mini-series! Apparently it was too late for the announcement, but in time for the San Diego Comic-Con. When I asked Dan for the artist’s name, he was unable to confirm at the time.  As soon as we know, we’ll be sure to let you Match-heads know. Hopefully more information will be announced during the San Diego Comic-Con this week.

Love this artwork! Firestorm looks to be saying, “Come at me, bro!” Also, the muted reds and yellows give a dangerous feeling to the image. Can’t wait to see more!

I know what you are thinking… Didn’t we just see Firestorm in The New 52: Futures End? Nope, that was a possible timeline five years in the future. Didn’t we see Firestorm in Justice League a few months ago? Nope, he was only referenced as being infected. Didn’t he just appear in a panel of the Bat-Mite promo? Well yes, but that was a gag, and it was just a photo. It wasn’t Firestorm actually appearing and doing something.

For the first time since Forever Evil #7, Firestorm has made an appearance in a mainstream DC comic! Sort of. Truthfully, he has a one panel appearance in the online DC Sneak Peek of Justice League United #11. Not exactly a triumphant return, but we’ll take it!

Hmmmm…

• Does this mean Firestorm will appear in Justice League United at some point?  Not sure.
• What’s up with Firestorm’s shadowy appearance and obscured costume? Not sure
• Why is he floating above the Earth and what is the lofty-concept universal threat? Not sure
