News broke last week that Kelly Frye has been cast to play Plastique on the upcoming CW show, The Flash. The casting announcement came just days after the news that Plastique would appear in the series.
E! Online reports that Kelly Frye will appear in the fifth episode of The Flash as Bette Sans Souci, aka Plastique. Previously, Frye appeared on Rake (a Fox drama), NCIS: Los Angeles and The Mentalist. The article describes Plastique as:
A bomb disposal expert in Iraq who, following exposure to the energy released by the S.T.A.R. Labs meltdown, Bette now has the ability to turn any object she touches into an explosive device. On the run from the shadow forces in the U.S. government trying to turn her into a human weapon, she finds an ally in fellow meta-human The Flash.
Frye will be the third actress to portray Plastique. Jessica Parker Kennedy played the explosive personality of Plastique in the 8th season of Smallville, while Juliet Landau voiced Plastique on the Justice League Unlimited cartoon.
With so many Firestorm-related characters appearing on The Flash, some folks are speculating what this might mean for The Nuclear Man! I’m thinking they might change the title of the series to, The Flash/Firestorm Hour of Adventure!
My thanks to Robert Bell, CraigimusMax, and others for sharing this news with me!
