It’s your last chance to join the #FirestormFarewell event! By my count, over 70 people have already changed their avatars to help give the Nuclear Man a social media send-off! The last issue of The Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Man will be released tomorrow (Wednesday, May 22). To help say goodbye to Firestorm’s ongoing series, let’s all rally together and show our support across various social media platforms!
For those participating, please be sure to generate some posts tomorrow about Firestorm! I’d recommend including the hashtag #FirestormFarewell. Also, you may wish to tag various Firestorm writers and artists, letting them know you appreciate their work on the character over the years.
CHANGE YOUR AVATAR
For the remainder of this week, please use the image below as your social media avatar (Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Google Plus, Pinterest, Blogs, etc). If several days is too much for you, please at least consider it for tomorrow, Wednesday, May 22.
The drawing above was done by the dastardly creative Luke Daab. It sums up how many of us Match-heads feel about the cancellation of this title. It’s been a fun ride with some amazing creators! The last few months with Dan Jurgens have been especially fantastic, so this cancellation is heartbreaking.
USE THE HASHTAG: #FirestormFarewell
If you post to social media about Firestorm this week, please include the following hashtag: #FirestormFarewell

If you change your avatar and are not on the list above, please be sure to give me a heads-up so I’m able to keep up with everyone involved. Just for fun, below is a screen shot of a recent Facebook conversation. You can see six different people all sharing the same icon. Inspiring!
EVERYBODY PLAY NICE
This social media send-off isn’t going to change DC Comics mind about the cancellation, it’s just going to show there are fans of Firestorm out there and we love the character. In fact, I’d prefer if we all kept our comments focused on supporting the character and how we’ll miss his monthly series, rather than being aggressive and hostile about the cancellation. I don’t want a flamewar breaking out towards DC Comics, any of the creators of the series, or between fellow fans. Let’s just demonstrate that we’re sad to see the series go and we still support the character!
My thanks to Keith G. Baker and Hector Negrete for suggesting this idea!
Support Firestorm! Fan the Flame!
It’s not just a slogan! Seriously, support Firestorm by changing your avatar!
