INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the FIRESTORM FAN blog! You may be asking yourself, “A blog about Firestorm? Seriously?” Well, I say YES! I’m a huge fan of the character and think he’s deserving of the attention.
I’ve been running my other blog, ONCE UPON A GEEK, for almost a year. While I love writing a blog about anything and everything geeky, I wanted to start another site that really focuses on one subject. In the past year, I’ve become interested in some comic book character blogs, such as: The Aquaman Shrine, Speed Force (dedicated to the Flash), and Idol-Head (dedicated to the Martian Manhunter). Firestorm has always been my favorite character and after searching around the web I haven’t been able to find an active blog dedicated to the character. There are a handful of good reference sites and some defunct sites, but no currently active blog.
So, combine the following ingredients in a large mixing bowl (a.k.a. the world wide web)…
-
My interest in starting a more focused site
-
My long-standing interest in the Firestorm character
-
The lack of a blog dedicated to old match-head
Take the resulting crackpot idea, bake for 8 to 10 seconds in preheated oven. Allow insanity to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely… and voila – FIRESTORM FAN is born!
THE PURPOSE OF THIS BLOG
This blog was created to cover anything and everything Firestorm-related. You’ll find things here such as merchandise, comics, toys, cartoons, news, and my thoughts and feelings about the character.
While I’m primarily a Ronnie/Martin Firestorm fan, I’ve really grown to like the Jason Firestorm. I may be critical of Firestorm related matters from time-to-time, but this site will not degenerate into a “Jason-hater” site. I have the utmost respect for all the creators of the various Firestorm series and wish to honor all incarnations of the character.
Also, this blog is not intended to be an all-knowing reference site. If that’s what you are looking for, there are some great sites with reference information out there already. Here are just a few:
- Wikipedia – Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond) entry
- Wikipedia – Firestorm (Jason Rusch) entry
- The Unofficial Guide to the DC Universe – Firestorm Chronology
- Wikia DC Database – Firestorm Entry
- ComicVine – Firestorm Entry
Finally, I expect to post here only once or twice a week for now. Given my hectic schedule (work, wife, kids, etc), my commitment to my ONCE UPON A GEEK blog, and the finite amount of Firestorm-related items out there, I think this is the best strategy. Otherwise I risk running out of things to talk about or burning myself out too quickly. If this situation changes, I’ll be sure to let you know.
Support Firestorm! Fan the flame!
Ahoy there! From one DC character-specific blogger to another, welcome to the club!
Firestorm, like Hawkman, is a character with such a tremendously memorable visual look that, as far as I am concerned, any comic book fan can appreciate. The bold red and yellow costume and flaming toupee look is a strong and powerful one. Plus those of us of a certain age no doubt will always remember Firestorm and the talking, floating head of the Professor from Super Friends!
I’m looking forward to learning more about Firestorm here on the blog!
I to, think ol’ Matchead deserves more respect! Im looking forward to reading here on your blog!

Hey cool. I sort of did the Firestorm-blog thing for a while there, but I’m sick of blogs for the most part at the moment. I will keep an eye out here though, nice to see someone else doing it, and doing it better If I can ever be of assistance with anything, I’m quite willing to help/ provide scans of original art/ whatever
I love this site and am disappointed in myself for having just discovered it. I could have been enjoying this blog for more than a year and I only just discovered it last week. Thanks to speedforce.org for sending me here. Firestorm has been my favorite character since I was a kid and discovered him in the backup story drawn by George Perez from Flash #291 & #292. I also loved the Fury of Firestorm series and his appearances in Justice League of America but more recently enjoyed Jason as Firestorm also a good series especially the issues which picked up threads of the old Firestorm book like Cliff Carmichael’s return and a new Tokamak. Every time I meet one of the creators of the Firestorm books from my childhood I relate to them how Firestorm influenced me as a kid. Prof Stein bears a resemblance to my father and whenever I was tempted to do something wrong or give in to peer pressure I could hear the voice of my dad warning me to reconsider much the same way as Ronnie would get advice from Prof Stein. I told this to George Perez and Pat Broderick when I met them at conventions a few years ago. They both seemed pleased to have contributed in some small way to me staying out of trouble when I was in danger of going astray. This is a great site devoted to a great character and I am proud to be a fan of both.
@Firestormfan89 – I’m thrilled you found the site! My thanks to Kelson for sending you this way. Those Flash back-up stories were great! They really fleshed out Firestorm after the original series cancellation. Also, I’m always happy to meet another Jason fan. I’m truly a fan of every incarnation of Firestorm, so other fans that like multiple incarnations are appreciated.
Great story about Professor Stein and your dad! Glad Perez and Broderick liked it!
Thanks for visiting the site! All fans of the Nuclear Man are welcome here!
