This first one below is entitled, “Ring of Firestorm“.  It’s a nice representation of the Ronnie Raymond/Martin Stein Firestorm.  I like the bold orange and the faded look.  Great shirt!  The artwork appears to be stock art provided by the same artist that did this other shirt.  WANT!

This next shirt has the distinction of being the first Jason Rusch/Firestorm t-shirt in which he’s featured by himself!  This one is entitled, “Firestorm Blaze“.  I love the Jamal Igle-designed costume and the flaming corona is a nice touch.  WANT!

Blackest Night #4

• Thanks to Dispatches from the Arrowcave (The Green Arrow blog), the Aquaman Shrine, and Patrick for the heads-up about a t-shirt featuring several DC superheroes, including the Jason Rusch Firestorm.  It’s available at Wal-Mart, and may possibly be the only t-shirt to ever include the Jason Rusch Firestorm.  Thanks to Adama from Dispatches from the Arrowcave for the photo!

• Below is a cute Firestorm M&M I found on the Baggy Pants and Bravado blog.  It was originally posted by Hugh Cherry on the John Byrne Message Board back in 2006.  Check out either link for tons more superhero M&Ms.

• The Captain’s JLA Blog recently featured an alternative Justice League team shot drawn by Rafael Albuquerque (Blue Beetle, Superman/Batman).  It included the Jason Rusch Firestorm and is worth a look.
• Firestorm made a cameo back in 2006 in The Order of the Stick webcomic.  Thanks to Adama for pointing me in that direction.

I can understand putting Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Robin, and even Green Arrow on licensed merchandise.  They are all characters the general public is likely to recognize.  But Firestorm and Doctor Fate?!?!  They happen to be two of my favorite characters, but I’m not sure anyone in the general public would be able to identify them.  They both have proven time and again they can’t support their own monthly comic books.  Oh well, I’m not complaining!

My thanks to Patrick, long time Firestorm fan. He e-mailed me last week after seeing these boxers in K-Mart.  I ran out to the store and picked up a pair myself.  You should still be able to find a pair at your local K-Mart (possibly other retailers as well).

I’m really pleased that Firestorm was placed in the center of the image.  After Superman, Green Lantern, and Green Arrow, the focus is really on Firestorm (even more so than on Batman).  The only downside is that Firestorm is right on the flap of the boxers.  Awkward.  Just be thankful I didn’t model them for you!

Here is a close-up of the graphic.  I’m not 100% confident who the artist is, but after doing some research and consulting with experts we believe this image was pencilled by Denys Cowan and inked by Dick Giordano.  The logo is from the Firestorm (volume I) series.

Here is a nice shirt I just got featuring an unusual collection of characters: Red Tornado, Doctor Fate, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, and everybody’s favorite Nuclear Man.  Near as I can figure, the artwork on this shirt must have been produced in conjunction with the second wave of Super Powers action figures.  These happen to be the exact five superheroes that were released in that wave.  Otherwise, I can’t think of a time these particular heroes were together for an image like this.  You can order yourself one of these great-looking shirts from Graphitti Designs by clicking here.

My friend Terry was kind enough to loan me this next shirt so I could photograph it for FIRESTORM FAN.  It’s a really cool slate-blue ringer t-shirt featuring the satellite-era Justice League of America.

Here is a close-up of the graphic.  You can see Firestorm directly under the “M” in “America”.  Unfortunately for the logo, it appears to be seconds away from bursting into flames thanks to our favorite match-head.  The artwork on this shirt was done by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, the man who did much of the DC promotional stock art back in the early 1980s.  My thanks to Terry for the loan!

Today I’m displaying one of the few officially licensed t-shirts to include Firestorm.  For the record, I don’t know of any official t-shirts that feature Firestorm all by himself.  Today’s shirt came from Kohl’s in the summer of 2008.  It’s a great late-Bronze Age shot of several DC heroes.  The art is by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, the brilliant artist that did much of the DC promotional stock art in the 1980s.

The shirt specifies the Justice League of America, and yet includes several non-League members; such as the Marvel family, Plastic Man, Batgirl, Supergirl, Robin, Wonder Girl, and Starfire.  If you check out this same image on the Aquaman Shrine, you can see it was originally drawn as a DC Style Guide image under the header of “Super Heroes”.  It appears the same image was repurposed for this t-shirt and then slapped with a JLA logo to sell better.  As far as I’m concerned, who cares.  I’ve got a t-shirt with Firestorm, Aquaman, and the Flash!  I’m pretty happy with it!

Oh yeah, having trouble finding Firestorm?  Look beneath Captain Marvel, between Hawkman and Starfire.  Here’s a close up.
