Seems I've found my soul mate. Might've known it'd someone with "drunk" in their name. I will say that I have a new appreciation for those of you brave enough to put yourselves out there on the podcast circuit. I was pretty nervous. Good thing we were recording in a joint that served beer.

Hi Shag,

Thoroughly enjoyed your latest world tour episode. Very fun to hear two die-hard fans like you and Keith discuss Firestorm. It sounded like you were in a bar so I kept expecting a bar fight to break out.

We didn't realize Keith lived here in the same town as us. Hopefully we can meet up sometime.

The next time you're in Raleigh I'm sure you'll be just as interested to get together and talk about Trekker, right? Surely next to Firestorm that is your second favorite series and you would be equally happy to talk about it for an hour, right ... are those crickets I hear chirping???

It was especially poignant to listen this morning after hearing the news about the loss of Yvonne Craig, who is easily our favorite Batgirl. So sad.

Have a great day!

So Shagg goes on tour to tell people their comic preferences are wrong? Kind of an non-motivational speaker?

I agree with Keith (and Ryan), I'd like to see DC publish at least a few series set in the pre-Crisis universe. I don't hate Crisis like Keith, and while I agree Post-Crisis DC produced some exciting and engaging comics, I do think it was a misstep to scrap the multiverse. DC has been scrambling for an identity ever since.

Stella did indeed make me feel old. The old Skybox Marvel Trading Cards as board books. Sigh. I feel for Tom, and even Shagg.

Nice discussions with all the guests, and I look forward to your next few stops Shagg. Looks like you may be coming near...oh...oh no. Okay, I may need to schedule an impromptu vacation and get the hell outta Kentucky in September.

There's no reason for Shag and I to ever meet because our conversation would sound a lot like your conversations with Keith and Tom.

I agree with almost everything Keith said about Crisis and his desire to see Earth-1 resurrected. Not DC's "Earth One" graphic novels, which read like Johns' and Straczynski's un-produced movie scripts, but a return to the pre-Crisis Satellite Era DC Universe.

Like Keith, my favorite heroes are the classic iconic versions, even though I know their legacies benefited from the more sophisticated writing of their times. Are the best Flash stories from the Wally West years? Yep, totally. Don't care. I prefer Barry. Were Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner a thousand times more interesting and rounded than Hal Jordan and John Stewart? Yep, totally. Don't care. I prefer Hal and John. I know Tim Drake got better Robin stories than Dick Grayson, but I still want my original Robin.

I would love to see Gerry Conway, Len Wein, a lot of those Bronze Age greats come back to DC--not as writers, but as a sort-of brain trust figuring out what the DC universe looks like and how many different realities and continuities we can play with.

As for the second conversation, Tom and I talked about this before but we share the same first Batman comic, DETECTIVE #617. It was given to me and shortly after that I went to the grocery store and found BATMAN #450-451.

Apropos nothing, living in northern New England now, I see moose semi-regularly. My closest encounter with one was nearly watching my wife die when she was riding a motorcycle. A moose ran out into the road, got spooked by the sound and kicked out, smashing her heavy hoof into the side of my wife's bike. Miraculously, my wife stayed upright and brought the bike to a stop without crashing. The moose, on the other hand, lost its footing and stumbled into the woods before running off. The animal's kick shattered one of the tail lights and missed my wife's ankle by centimeters.

So, y'know... go to hell, Stella.
