Here is a photo commemorating this historic first meeting! Shag on the left (with hair), Rob on the right (without hair). And for the record, the vertical line in the middle between posters is completely coincidental. This was not photoshopped together. So there.

Shagg I have always thought, that if you take to smoking a pipe, you would look like Prof. Martin Stein!

  2. Anj says:

Can’t wait for the Brennert show. Not surprised he named his dog after Supergirl since he wrote the famous ‘Should Auld Acquaintance Be Forgot’ Supergirl/Deadman story.

And definitely looking forward to the Whos Who Super-issue.

Strategery…I wonder if that will ever become an official word and make it into the Oxford Dictionary. If “selfie” can be recognized and make it in, I have hope that Strategery will someday be Dictionary Approved.

Anywho, very cool that you guys got to finally meet and bring us this awesome special episode! That store sounds awesome! I need to be sure to check it out if I ever make it out there! Holy crap! A pack of Blue Devil! A pack of Conan! A pack of Atari Force! I would have bought all of those! Man this place sounds awesome! How do they pay for it?! I think you hit on it, the guy hated his job, obviously all of their employees are endentured servants! No way! And a Quarter Bin to boot! This sounds like the all time greatest comic book shop ever! Hey Ghost Manor! I love that book! I have a few random issues, not near the greatness of the DC Horror anthologies or Marvel Horror books of the time, but still an enjoyable read!

Warlord is awesome, great pick-ups Shag! Yes Warlord #9 for 25 cents?!?! That’s an awesome score! You’re lucky to find Warlord books in the first 25 issues to go less than $2-5 each, let alone less than a dollar! Wow! An Airboy #1!!!! Jeesh!!

Oooh Shag…too soon? Meh doesn’t bother me, at least you didn’t pull a Jason Biggs.

See, this is what happens when I only get 2 hours of sleep and Rob won’t edit out my idiocy. :)

This is the first episode I was able to finish in just one drive to work!

This was really cool…in fact, I there should be more random meet ups among our community! Who’s with me?

I would like to try and record a “live”-type F&W when at the Baltimore Comic Con in Sept.

  6. Tim Wallace says:

Rob, I’m planning to be there on staff again this year…I know we’ve chatted a bit the last 2yrs…I’d be happy to help if I can! Anyone else planning to be there?

For over a hundred weeks I’ve turned up here to break you guys’ balls in text, but it’s still super awkward to make an occasional live vocal guest appearance via the internet on a show I actively dissect with two guys I don’t for reals actually know at all. I can’t imagine how nauseatingly surreal it would be to traverse dimensions and be presented with a disembodied voice I’d spoken with routinely for a couple of years in the flesh. Sounds like the plot of a Don Coscarelli movie. I think I’d just sucker punch one of you and run away.

I recently visited Austin Books & Comics, which was the most immaculate shop I’ve been in so far. They had a life-sized Hulk statue in the middle of the store and an obscene amount of square footage for books, toys, shirts, etc. They’ve taken over an entire strip mall with sub-stores devoted to gaming and high end artsie fartsie books/figures. I wasn’t too keen on the prices that came with that flamboyance, but they had some stuff that I hadn’t been able to find locally. Unfortunately, they hadn’t moved their “Sidekick” liquidation store to the complex when I was there, although my girlfriend was surely glad I didn’t make her go back and spend a day there.

Anj has to be on the Boston show. That has to happen. It’s non-negotiable.
