First off, I loved Earth-2 Chris's "origin story" for Power Records. Have to love finding a rack of kids records at the grocery store!

I am a Man-Bat fan as well, so Robin Meets Man-Bat was a real treat for me to listen to! "What are we running here, a debate?! Plug em!" Awesome!

I always imagined Jor-El shouting "I told you so!" as Krypton starts exploding. Possibly along with a Nelson Muntz style "Haw-Haw!" And really, Lara, "Happy journey!"? That's what you have to say to your infant son as your planet ready to blow up? The nurse is also hilarious. "He just... mangled it!" She sounds like a nurse from a Three Stooges short!

Thanks for the show, Rob & Chris! (I'd have posted this to the Shrine but I can't post there from work!)

Thanks for sharing these! I love listening to these old Power Records, and I'm really happy to hear a Superman one!!!

Some notes on the man from Krypton:

I love how Denny knows the distance light travels in a second, but isn't smart enough to know to keep out of skateboarding in the street. I guess that used to be common sense for all kids at the time, and wasn't replaced by "look both ways before crossing a street" until the late 80's and early 90's?

Lara "happy Journey!" Jor-El "Live my son...live!" those are pretty lame last words.

Haha the old origing where they take baby Kal-El to an orphanage is hilarious and really hard to swallow and think about in today's world. It's hard to conceive a world where they wouldn't throw him in a glass tank and prod the infant with probes and needles (like Flashpoint Superman).

The parallels between the Record and the movie are crazy!

I agree with both of you about the sweetness and appeal of Superman from this time vs. Man of Steel movie, this is exactly why I don't care for the current comic interpretation of Superman or the recent movie incarnation.

I really need to track this down record and comic down, I'd love to see Buckler's art on this.

Great issue! Can't wait for the next Power Records episode!
