I'll just add to Luke's post on the Toybiz Lex Luthor. His design was pretty much taken from the (very awesome) Ruby Spears Superman animated series, whose model sheets were done by Gil Kane.

Since Kenner had the License for Star Wars aswell as Super Powers, its no coincidence that alot of the vehicles for SP were similar in mechanics aswell as design to the Star Wars line.

Also as a kid, the Super Mobile kind of looked like a under water type of vehicle to me. So I always thought that Aquaman borrowed it for under water action... When for the rare times he needed a vehicle. Thats my explanation as to why he is on the box standing next to Superman.

I'm posting over here just to join in the legions of others who have acknowledged the vague similarities between the Lex Soar 7 and a Snowspeeder.

However, the separation between the cockpit and wing-like foils makes the Lex Soar 7 radically different. It sort of resembles a rabbit with his ears pulled forward in that regard. When you look at it that way, it more closely resembles a Sprinthawk from Silverhawks, if you pulled the wings down to the side and bent them forward:

Justice Jogger as an 80s superhero... his sidekick must have been Aerobics Lass! LOL!

Toy Biz Riddler did not have an action gimmick, which was unfortunate. He came with a sheet of paper with riddles on it. Lame. I still have my Toy Biz Riddler (as well as Penguin, a stupid purchase considering that my brother and I had SP Penguin, and Two Face who was actually kinda neat).

The Toy Biz Lex Luthor's action punch feature was designed in such a way that he always punched himself in the head. It's almost as if he was doing a head slap for letting Superman beat him for 70 years or whatever. :)

And regarding the Lex-Soar 7, I guess the best way to say it is that it looks like a Snowspeeder which got shrunk in the dryer.

I also thought that there was hundreds of episodes of Superfriends because my father used to tape that show (along with Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends) on tape and my brother and I would watch them over and over. So yeah, right there with you guys on that one.

Galactic Guardians was a very good show. I have very fond memories of the Brainiac episode where the robotic Brainy first appeared and spoke like a computer. Very cool as a kid. That, and the bit from the opening where Cyborg walks across the frame, and attaches his sonic cannon to his arm, are my fondest memories of that era.

Rob, at least Aquaman appears in Galactic Guardians, I am pretty sure that Hawkman did not even appear at all, except on the title card. (Ironically, Hawkman and Aquaman stand next to each other on that title card.)

I'd love a whole retrospective on the Superfriends, but you can skip the Marvin and Wendy debacle...

So happy to finally get a chance to hear another episode on the Super Powers Collection.

I remember asking my Dad for the Supermobile one time while at Sears or Caldor or something like that. My father's response was to look at the box and question, out loud, "Why does Superman need a plane? He's Superman!" I couldn't argue with that logic, and I ended up not getting it and never asking for it again.

And I hate to agree with Rob (not really) but yeah, the Lex-Soar 7 really does sort of look like a Snowspeeder.

More to come...

Aaaahhhh it was worth the year long wait!
Just to reiterate my Twitter post... Yes the Lex-Soar 7 does resemble a Snow Speeder! Also I see where Robb was making a comparison to Darkseid's ship to an X-Wing...

Robb also mentioned the (aweful) Toybiz DC Superheroes line, which were cheap almost imatations of the Super Powers line, but Kenner re used alot of the Super Powers mold's in 1990/1991 for the Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves figures. See the link http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/blog/cantinadan/kenners-robin-hood/

The Kenner Batman Returns figures were also re-tooled (and in the Penguin's case, repaints) of the Super Powers line also.

Last week I picked up a sweet hardcover U.K. annual of the Super Powers comic. With an Awesome wrap around cover by Jack (The King) Kirby.

Awesome episode guys... Looking forward to next years annual Super Powers episode, aswell as the Super Friends animated series episode!
