Random Panel of the Day

Thanks to The Aquaman Shrine for today’s random panel of the day!

Firestorm in Justice League International #24

This great panel comes from Justice League International #24, written by Keith Giffen & J.M. DeMatteis, drawn by Kevin Maguire & Joe Rubinstein. Anyone remember what Firestorm was doing in that issue?

I wish the whole book had been panels like this one!

According to what I googled up, Justice League International #24 is the first appearance of Justice League Europe and the story Firestorm appeared in was “Across a Crowded Room…” Max Lord was apparently kidnapped in that story but I don’t possess the issue itself so I don’t know what happened or what Firestorm’s role was. It was also likely the last appearance of the Silver Age Hawkman and Hawkwoman as members of the League.

Since the issue came out in December 1988, this would be the “Blank Slate” Firestorm, right?

Good call Ben! Essentially it was a cattle call for new members to join the Justice League (splintering into the Justice League America and Justice League Europe). It was definitely supposed to be the “Blank Slate” Firestorm, but they missed the sideburns. Not critical, but was obvious to match-heads at the time.

Also good job to Jimmy McGlinchey on Twitter! He commented as well.

Good job to Firestorm here too, esp. in 1988.

What does a person’s sexual orientation have to do with any job anyhow?

Way to call them out on the carpet Firestorm!

We know blank-slate Firestorm was straight anyway. Just ask Firehawk.
